Benchmark Testing, Proficiency Testing and Auditions
Starting high school with the right foundation helps prepare students down the line.
ALL freshmen will be taking a math benchmark test. Below are the dates:
The Math 1 Benchmark Test will take approximately one hour, and students will not be allowed to use a calculator on the exam. Students should bring a pencil.
We encourage all students to arrive early so testing can begin promptly. Students will be allowed to leave once their testing is complete.
The benchmark exam will be used to determine math course placements for next year.
Any student that is interested in being placed into Math 3 (Algebra 2) must take the Jones Math 2 Placement Test. This test will be held immediately following the benchmark test in May. This test will last approximately one hour, and students will be allowed to use a non-CAS graphing calculator on this exam. Calculators will not be provided for the students, so students wishing to use one must bring their own.
Any student that cannot attend on the benchmark test on his/her indicated date or have additional questions should contact Math Department Co-Chair Kim Bowman KLBowman@cps.edu
Freshmen interested in placing into advanced language courses (level 2, 3 or 4) should take the proficiency test.
If you have questions regarding testing please contact Mrs. Jamie Riste at email@example.com
Any freshmen interested in placing into advanced or intermediate choir are being asked to sit for an audition.
If you have any questions please contact Choir Director, Kathryn Colby at firstname.lastname@example.org
Any freshmen interested in placing into advanced orchestra are being asked to sit for an audition.
